Ronald: You would normally need to get a public performance license to do that -- there are companies which handle nontheatrical distribution of films which can provide you with such a license for an appropriate fee. If you mention what country you are in and what film you are planning to show, it may be possible for someone here to advise you as to what company you should contact for the license.

If owner of the movie is comfortable wit edition, then it should be alright. Still time of edition process and writing notes is a question?
