Until a few years ago, it was possible to search for a title using the exact syntax by which it is displayed on-screen or as it is given in the submission email. But ever since it was "improved", that has not been possible.
The two main deficiencies are:
- it won't find titles if they have the suffix "(TV)", even though this is how IMDB refers to the title (eg "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1980) (TV)")
- it can't find TV episodes if they are listed in conjunction with the series name eg "A Very British Murder with Lucy Worsley" (2013) {Detection Most Ingenious
(#1.2)} even though this is how the episode is referred to in submission emails
The object of the exercise of any search engine is to allow you to find exactly what you are looking for, without either failing to find anything or else finding too many irrelevant matches.
When I am checking my submissions to make sure that they have been correctly published, I copy and paste the title from the email and would hope that I could search for that specific episode, without finding lots of irrelevant matches on the episode title alone without the series name.
I would have though that the one thing that a search engine should definitely be able to find is the title as it is mentioned in the submission email - if that isn't the definitive version of the title, what is?
I appreciate that you have added a lot of fuzzy logic which copes remarkably well with imprecise titles or typos, but this seems to be at the expense of breaking the ability to search by the exact title.

The ability to parse series-and-episode titles is something that used to work perfectly until they added fuzzy logic to the searches which improved things for "mere mortal" users at the expense of data-maintenance people.
