There is no way that I should be listed as the 3rd "most helpful member". I'm now listed above Dan and Gromit and gaining on Bluesman? Ridiculous.
In a blog post, the geniuses at GetSat explained that the leader board shows "the top 5 most helpful members" (uh huh) "from your community based on the
number of likes they’ve received on replies and comments over the past 30 days."
Counting silly "likes" in a 30-day window to determine who'll be labeled "most helpful"? Everything about that is wrong. It would be better not to display the Leader Board at all, so please turn it off if you can.
Just because a few posts got some "likes" in a month, a dabbling noncommittal newcomer who knows 0.001% as much about IMDb as the regular volunteers (and owes most of what he does know to them) and puts in about 0.001% as much effort on an ongoing basis, and provides 0.001% as much help on an ongoing basis, and may disappear from the board any day now, just rockets right up to 3rd place on the so-called Leader Board? ...Riiiiiight.
"The leaderboard is a great way to recognize and reward your best community members," chirps the GetSat blog post. I wish them better luck with their next attempt to design and implement something more useful and accurate. I am not the 3rd "most helpful member", and being labeled as such, by a silly widget that does nothing better than to count a few recent "likes", is at best embarrassing.
Somebody please find a way to remove that silly widget, or take my name off of it.
