Trying to edit plot summary for http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3517490/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl

I click on Edit or Edit Page and am taken to a page where I change both Plot Summaries and Plot Outline to Correct/Delete. I click continue.<br>I am now presented with a page that says there is No existing data for either item. How can that be? There clearly is and it contains a factual error that I'm trying to correct.

Going round in circles.......

The Plot Summary has been added quite recently. While IMDb is now using an Update system that displays changes almost immediately, the Update database (and some other pages)require an overnight rebuild before the changes are available.

The  data should be available within 48 hours.

A quick check would be to check the /combined or /reference page, and see if the Summary shows there. The pages are updated by the same system as the Update database, so if the data shows on those pages it is almost certainly ready to be updated.

Thank you for your answer. I have seen messages while trying to update a title recently added telling me I cannot do so because it is recent. But in this case no such message appears. IMDB being consistently inconsistent. What is good for one type of edit should be good for all types of edit.

I expect that occurred with a New Title when the page had not yet been built. In the case of the New Title, the page gets built on the default display page, but has not been added to the Update database. Therefore, when the Update system is accessed, an error 404 - Page not found is generated. Originally IMDb just displayed the error, but there were so many questions about it that they intercepted it and included the message that it was probably because the title was so recent.

In this case, either the Title was already existing, the Plot Summary was not submitted at that same time as the rest of the Title, or the Plot Summary acceptance was delayed enough that it was not available for the rebuild that added the rest of the data to the Update database.

Plot Summaries are not required for a Title,  and there is a whole host of Title pages that have no outstanding submissions that do not have one. Therefore, there is no way for the Update system to know that there is currently an outstanding  update, and thus no way to add a warning/comment.

The only way IMDb could be consistent between the two cases would be to remove the comment in the New Title case  - not a reasonable action. Note that the problem occurs because IMDb is moving to the new, faster acceptance  system, but has not yet transferred the Update database to it. Once this transfer occurs the whole problem should disappear.
