i'm logged in but do not see the recommendations for you section or rather it's blank despite having rated 140+ movies yesterday for the sole purpose of getting personalized recommendations. The section is also blank on the mobile site - again when I'm logged in with the same account with 140+ ratings. Why? This is very poor functionality. Why is personalized recommendations not simply included on the top menu? Thanks!

You say the recommendations section is blank? So you see that heading, but no posters. I wonder if the documentation is accurate (3rd item), or perhaps the system is having trouble at the moment. (I do see rec's on my account, but I've been on IMDb for a long time.)
When you go to the title page of something you rated, do you see the More Like This section?

If we do not have any recommendations for you (either because you have logged out or because you have not rated many items), IMDb will show you a list of items that many people have seen so that you can enter ratings to get recommendations.I'm not sure what constitutes a "positive" rating, but I'd assume at least a 7.
