Cannot use color-formatting in descriptions

Dear community,

I wanted to update some list-descriptions with some color. Unfortunately I couldn't apply any color. I found out that the color wasn't working at all once I've checked this post:

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Best regards

Hello Hyker,
Where did you see anything that made you think that it would work?
I don't think you've ever been able to add colours to your comments in any submissions.
If it was possible then everyone would be doing it and the IMDb would become a rainow hued mess

Oh, well I thought because you can apply bold texts you can also apply colored texts. I think I was mistaken. Thanks for clearning this.

But why is Dans Formatting test not working anymore? I can definitely remember seeing the list in color. Why else would he made the list?

Best regards

Steve, this is about lists, not data contribution.

Yes, I realise that Peter,
Although I (personally) still don't like the idea of the potential of rainbow coloured lists

It's not just a potential, it's something that always worked. Some of our poll contributors like to use it, and the colours still work in polls, but the updated list software doesn't make it easy.

Hi Hyker,

Please know that per our Lists FAQ here, we support the following formatting in lists using [Square Brackets].

Thanks for that, Claire. I suppose that means the old color-function is not available anymore?

Hi Hyker,

Yes, that's correct; the color formatting is not currently available for list formatting.

Let us know if we can offer any further help.

Color markups were definitely supported before the Dec 6 update. Only a handful of colors, though. And having to type in all the markup text didn't encourage its use. I've left mine where they are, in hopes their support will return.

The removal of support for color markups was much lamented in the thread Update to List Pages, among many other things.

I'm surprised that a Champion would express such a negative response to something as harmless as an Option to set off some text in a custom comment/description with color.

Aren't we allowed to have a personal opinion? I don't speak for the IMDb or anyone else, just for myself

If it was possible to add colours everywhere then everyone would be doing it and the IMDb would become a rainow hued mess (IMHO)

Hello,  Steve Crook, Champion

But it wasn't the ability to add colors everywhere, just on comments/descriptions.

It's not just the fact that you object to the concept of color markups, also the way you expressed it. (Bolding mine:)
Where did you see anything that made you think that it would work? I don't think you've ever been able to add colours to your comments in any submissions. If it was possible then everyone would be doing it and the IMDb would become a rainow hued mess
You weren't just voicing your opinion on the colors. You questioned where the poster got the idea that such a feature was supported, inferring that because you were unfamiliar with it, that it must not exist. That aspect of your remark would be reasonably perceived as an attempted invalidation of the poster's assertion of a fact.

I found your response the opposite of helpful, which is what I thought earned someone the Champion tag.

And really, with all the advertising, photos, and videos, isn't IMDb already a blast of color, well beyond a rainBow?

There was a question mark at the end of that sentence, and no bold in it. I was just asking a question "Where did he see it?" not stating an opinion or implying that the OP was incorrect in any way
