Can't remove a credit from my imdb page however how many times I try

I have been credited as a set designer on a short that I co-directed and edited years ago. I have tried several times to remove that credit from my imdb page, over several years, but it still remains. I'm an assistant editor, editor on smaller projects, and it just doesn't look serious to have so many completely different credits in unrelated departments so it is important that I remove it.

We did a bit of everything on the short so we got credited for many things in the end roller that we shouldn't really have been credited for, and I really don't want to be listed as a set decorator on imdb as I merely just helped one afternoon.

How do I convince imdb to remove it my set decorator credit? Showing a screenshot of the credits won't work as, like I said, I am listed in the set decorating department, quite stupidly.

Many thanks

If you are in that role on the credits, then that is how you have to be listed on IMDB - they won't remove the credit.

IMDb documents on screen credits. Even if there was a mistake.

Does IMDB verify the on screen credits by viewing footage and  if so may I have access to the footage? As a SAG-AFTRA actress of 22 years I find it disturbing that a signatory producer whom is obligated by SAG to the fair treatment of SAG actors put any credits they want and there be no recourse.  I have created  goodwill in my field and don't want to be portrayed incorrectly to my piers.  After all IMDB is a big calling card to many possibilities I have earned and I don't want them to be denigrated.

Yes.  They verify by looking at footage or screen captures.  That's exactly what you'd need.  I wonder why that was not your question, though.  IMDb doesn't consider any of what you've described but documents what's on film.

Notice, for example, the cast/crew for Annie Hall.  There are many mistakes such as Christopher Walken's name being misspelled.

So, if your real question is, "I got credited wrong on IMDb and have the on screen credits to prove it," the answer is, you'd click "edit page" for that title, choose to correct cast, enter the correction and supply a screen capture of the credit and ask they change it.  None of the "SAG" issues are relevant. Just upload an image of the screen capture here (well, not here but open your own topic and don't attach it here where it doesn't belong) along with the Submission ID that gets generated. Or upload it to a pic hosting site, or dropbox.com or box.com folder, then add it in the "explanation" field during the submission. Staff will review it.

Got it.  Thanks for clarifying.  I do not however have access to the footage so I could not verify.  Knowing IMDB does look at the footage answers the question though.

That's ridiculous, people should be able to control their own imdb page. If I can add credits I should be able to remove credits as well. Is there no way of contacting them?

It isn't your page, it is IMDB's page about you. They won't remove accurate information from a page - they have been taken to court over it in the past and won.

Is there no way of contacting them?

You have contacted them by posting here, but if a member of staff does drop in, they'll only say the same thing.

Okay, I see your point. I just figured that since I have an account and this was the page about me, it was my page. But if that's not how it works then it makes sense. Thank you for your help.

No problem.

I wouldn't worry about it - I'm sure anyone whose opinion is worth a damn will know that everyone pitches in on small productions, doing a little bit of everything, and an early mistake might be to credit everyone for everything (where more experienced film-makers might divvy-up the credits amongst everyone).
