Why is the rating for Captain Philips 6.9? even before the movie hasn't been released yet?
Is it really a User based rating?!! I can't believe that.. Please look into that once. That rally disappoints and discourages people to watch the movie.

With only 574 votes, I would discount the weighted average and pay more attention to the Arithmetic mean, which = 7.9

It looks like there are people voting 1 without seeing the film considering the large number of 1 votes.

The skewed ratings should eventually correct itself on the film get more votes.

Also, this has been released:

I do wonder about 574 votes from one film festival screening and there are an awful lot of 10 votes as well as 1s (which seem to be cast "blind" to counteract perceived vote stuffing, although Tom Hanks haters may also be at work), but as DD says, this will even itself out, possibly somewhere in between the two extremes (unless it really is one of the best films of the year)

It's now, weighted 7.1, mean 8.0. It's already evening out. The high number of 1's will soon be pretty meaningless.
