Cast changes not accepted

I can see on the processing page that the oldest item is 11/30/17 but there are only 4 outstanding items and unless 3 of those are mine, I think these corrections have been rejected.

First, I was really surprised that the cast listing for A Christmas Story was not correct (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085334/). Most of the changes (which dealt with cast ordering) were accepted except for movie Jean Shepherd's credit to "uncredited". While it is well known that Jean Shepherd provided the voice of the Narrator/Adult Ralphie, he does not appear in the final cast listing. I believe this meets IMDb's cast guide for uncredited voice work. This change was submitted as 171225-023238-167000.

Second, in Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3801438/), Grumpy Cat is credited as "Herself". Since this is a work of fiction, shouldn't her character name be "Grumpy Cat"? Per the cast guide "Where someone is billed in the credits as Himself/Herself in a fictional piece and are playing a scripted, fictional version of themselves, we use the performer's name as the character name to avoid moving the credit to the 'Self' category even if the credits say Himself/Herself." This update was 171224-062427-011000.

Finally, the last episode of season 4 of the Vikings (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6315234/), included many common cast members who were not credited and did not appear, including top billed Katheryn Winnick. It did correct the numbering and now there are three double numbers appearing. Katheryn Winnick's (Lagertha), Josefin Asplund's (Astrid) and Georgia Hirst's (Torvi) characters were last seen (and subsequently seen again in the premier of season 5) in Kattegat while the entire episode was in England. This update was: 171221-181034-643000 (I'm not sure how you prove someone wasn't credited!)

Speaking of changes not corrected: Cassidy Freeman, aka Cady Longmire, does not appear in episodes 3 and 4 of season 6 of Longmire. Updates: 171226-175348-725000  and 171224-213940-095000

Add also the two babies credited for "Baby Toretto" in the Fate of the Furious (interestingly enough they accepted the  reordering of the end of the cast but skipped 51 & 52 which would be the babies): 171227-042124-006000

Hi Adrian -

First, regarding your submission for A Christmas Story, the update was rejected because Jean Shepherd was credited on-screen for the role of "Ralphie as an adult":

Second, concerning "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever", if Grumpy Cat is playing a caricature the credit should be listed under "Grumpy Cat", I have now made this change which should be live on the site shortly.

Third, concerning "Vikings", can you clarify the cast issue further?  Is it that the cast members you mentioned (Katheryn Winnick, Josefin Asplund, and Georgia Hirst) should be listed as 'uncredited' without a cast order number?

Fourth, regarding the "Longmire" episode credits you reported, these were not accepted because the "credit only" attribute you submitted contradicted the existing data listed which was provided by a top contributor.  If you are certain that Ms. Freeman does not appear in these episodes, please re-submit your request including a detailed explanation for our staff to take another look.

Lastly, regarding the credit listing update for the "Fate of the Furious", do you have online screen grabs of the credits for our staff to verify the credit order numbers?

Michelle,

Thanks for the response.

1) In regards to a Christmas Story, the problem is that he is credited in credits at the beginning of the film (yeah, I should have double checked but I'm not sure I've seen that case before) but not in the credits at the end of the film. I generally don't pay attention to the beginning credits for modern feature films as the scroll of credits at the end is the complete list. It appears that the credits at the beginning and the end are also in different orders.

Begin Credits
1) Melinda Dillon
2) Darren McGavin
3) Scott Schwartz
4) Jean Shepherd
5) Ian Petrella
6) Tedde Moore
7) R.D. Robb
8) Zack Ward
9) Yano Anaya
10) Jeff Gillen
11) Peter Billingsley

End Credits:
1) Melinda Dillon
2) Darren McGavin
3) Peter Billingsley
4) Ian Petrella
5) Scott Schwartz
6) R.D. Robb
7) Tedde Moore
8) Yano Anaya
9) Zack Ward
10) Jeff Gillen

Only Melinda Dillon, Darren McGavin and Jeff Gillen appear in the same order and Jean Shepherd appears nowhere in the end credits. What is the proper ordering? Currently it is by the end credits except with both Jean Shepherd and Ian Petrella listed as #4. I don't believe this is covered anywhere in the cast ordering guide.

3) These women do not appear in the episode (at least the one I just watched on Hulu). They do not appear in the credits. In fact, I watched the beginning credits at least 4 times to satisfy myself that Katheryn Winnick was not credited. The other two would appear in the end credits and they were not credited either.

4) In my experience, most people (even probably top contributors) don't mark cast members as "credit only". I start with everyone marked as correct when a complete cast is available and change them to keep as the characters appear on screen. I'm relatively certain she did not appear. I watched both episodes, read recaps and then did a quick scan for areas where she would appear in the story and never saw her.

This is a pretty good recap/review of A Thing I'll Never Understand. https://www.criminalelement.com/blogs/2017/12/longmire-604-qa-thing-ill-never-understandq-episode-re... There is no mention of her in this detailed review.

Same source for Burned Up All My Tears: https://www.criminalelement.com/blogs/2017/12/longmire-605-burned-up-my-tears-episode-review (Note: she is mentioned in this review but she has no actions, just that Walt is quit claiming the land to his daughter. The scene where that occurs only involves Walt and Vic.)

If you look at the next episode (6.6), you will see how she is mentioned as part of the plot line: https://www.criminalelement.com/blogs/2017/12/longmire-606-no-greater-character-endorsement-episode-...

Hi Adrian -

First, r egarding "A Christmas Story", as mentioned in our guide here, when the cast list is split between the opening credits and end credits, the two portions should be treated as one long cast list that happens to be interrupted by the actual movie.

So in this case, the order should start with the beginning credits, then including what is listed in the end credits (minus any duplicates).

Second, regarding the cast members you referenced, these episode credits have now been removed from the episode the change should be live on the site shortly.

Third, regarding the "Longmire" episode credit, based on the information you provided, the cast credit for Ms. Freeman has now been updated with the "credit only" attribute.

Lastly, thanks for posting the screen grab, the order numbers for the two credits of "Baby Toretto" on "Fate of the Furious" have now been added, the change should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

Hi Michelle,

Do you think we could get an update to the cast ordering guide that talks about "minus any duplicates"? Bascially, I would have never thought of A Christmas Story having split credits since there are so many duplicates. For a split credit case, I think mostly TV series where the featured cast and guest cast are listed during the beginning of the episode and then the co-stars are listed after the episode.

Edit: I went back and fixed up the ordering for A Christmas Story using the split cast rule and ignoring the duplicates.
