casting director company credits

As you know, sometimes a casting credit is given to a company such as John Smith & Associates.  The company name is listed in the database and credited with casting.  However, sometimes the main person is also listed as Casting Director.  How should this be handled?  Should John Smith be listed as uncredited or would he be considered to be individually credited since his name is technically on the screen?  I have seen this over 100 times by now and was hoping to get clarification so I know how to handle it in the future.  Thanks for your help!

Not sure if I fully understand your question, but a company like ”John Smith & Associates” goes to ”Misc Companies” section, with ”casting” (or whatever is listed in the actual credits, ”casting”, ”thanks”, ”casting agency” etc).

I believe the name ”John Smith” isn’t (individually) added. Sometimes it could be that the actual ”John Smith” has passed away a long time ago, but his name stays with the company.

Yes.  That is exactly the answer I was looking for.

For example, a movie I just watched gave on screen casting credit to Andrea Kenyon & Associates. Andrea Kenyon was credited as the Casting Director (in the database).  So even though her name was technically on the screen, it sounds like she should be listed as being 'uncredited' and only her company should be officially credited on IMDb.  Thanks for the help!

Hi Brett,

If the person is also specifically credited as a casting director then this is an eligible credit for a name page.

In this case, Andrea Kenyon was *not* given an onscreen casting director credit under her name individually.  It was only the company name "Andrea Kenyon & Associates".  Thank you for the clarification!
