It just seems more logical to change the "names" category that represents people (actors, writers, etc) when searching and making lists to "people."

IMDB presumably gave this a lot of thought and picked "names" because not everyone in the name category is a person:

All people have names but not all names are people. The problem is the second part, as name can refer to a movie or tv title and essentially anything ever.

But, unless there's a line of people standing there, it's really a listing of names. Technology has allowed us yet, to have the actual person there on the website. Just their names and credits.

People have names, animals have names, but animals aren't people.

As there is a titles option, I think all but a few can cope with this.

It's also require a complete rejigging of the URLs, which also suggests it won't happen.

Besides...rejigging URL's sounds so dirty...or is it just me?

I'd query the initial Himself credit - isn't he playing a fictional character of the same name? I for example, don't think he was ever actually marooned on a desert island.
