Changed my email - now I can't access my account and IMDb gave me a new one

I recently changed the email associated with my account and went through the process of validating the new email.

When I went to sign back onto the account, it didn't recognize my password so I clicked "forgot password" and it sent a link to my email to change my password. I followed the prompts, entered the new password and I was able to sign in but here's the weird part - the account it signed me into was a brand new account with a new name based on my OLD email.

I am now unable to sign into my original account and I never went through the process of creating a new account.

Can someone help me understand what happened and get me back into my original account?

Hi JCGeorgia,

Based on the information you've provided, it seems you created a new account. This means your old account is still open and associated with your previous email address. I recommend deleting the newly created account then attempt to change your email address once more.
