Changing a short to a web series

I have a web series that was picked up for distribution on a streaming service. We originally submitted one episode as a short film to a festival, so that is how withoutabox listed it on imdb. But I now want to list it as a series and list the individual episodes, as well as the new producer info, key art, festival credits, etc. Is it best to create a new title for the series version, then try to merge it with the short? Or delete the short listing entirely? If both titles exist then everyone will be listed twice for the same project. Thanks!

Tonya,

You mentioned the short was submitted to a festival. I assume the short was shown to the general public at a film festival with a release date and an attribute with the name of the film festival. When was the short released to the general public? When will the web series premiere?

From the information you've posted, in my opinion, I would recommend leaving the short as is and submit a new title for the web series.

Also, when the new series title page has been approved and published, through the IMDb Contact Us form, you can submit a Connection, which indicates that the short film follows the web series.

The initial short, which is the third episode of the series screened to the general public at Rooftop Films on 5/30/17. Then we premiered the SERIES at Sundance 2018 in the Indie Episodic category. It was purchased by a streaming service as a short form series and it premiered on 3/14/19. The series is NOT based on the short, the short that screened at Rooftop in 2017 is the exact same third episode that is currently streaming. So I want it to be clear that this is an entire series, and that the short isnt a separate project or the inspiration for the series. Can I merge them? Or later delete the short once the series is up in full? It's important for the actors to be credited as series regulars in a show / several episodes and not a short film.

Hi Tonya,

The correct thing to do here is to create a new series listing for the web series. Then once this has been approved add the episodes but on episode 3, add this one without any filmography credits attached. Once this has been approved, add a movie connection linking it to the short that aired at a film festival and a piece of title trivia explaining the history.

I hope this helps. Please write back if you require more assistance.

Thanks,
Will
