I added a title and it got processed and everything and is now currently on IMDb. My problem is that I listed the show as a 20 minute video, but it is really a TV Show that runs for 20 mins. How do you change this?! I tried adding it again, and maybe it would get fixed and it didn't. Please help!!!!

Hi Marz -

You'll need to submit an update via the title's page; simply submit a title correction, and edit the format of the title to change the type.

Television series are formatted as: "Title" (year)

For more information about how titles are formatted, please see: http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?ti... and http://pro.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?ti...

This solution is not practical. The current title types date back to the time TV was added to the database. The distribution of video software (programming) should include Theatrical, TV, Direct to Disk, Web Video (available at "tube" sites), and Online (pod casts, radio shows, Amazon Original, and so on). The type for each of these could be Movie, Series (theatrical, TV, Web, or Online), Pilot (TV or Online, but changed to part of the series if the series is picked-up), or Continuous programming.

An example of a Web Video Movie is Doctor Horrible. An example of a Web Video Series is The Guild (several years of short episodes). Many Online series are available only by subscription (for example Naked News or Orange is the New Black) and should be distinguished from Web Videos (which tend to divide a 22 minute  episode into several videos).

The Avengers or The Hobbit are examples of Theatrical Series. The Fantastic Four (2015) is an example of what was to be a Theatrical Series, but most attendees assume it will be a Theatrical Movie.

Continuous Online programming is mostly audio only (for example Krypton Radio), but true reality programming already exists.

So, the distribution and type of programming should each be multiple choice. A form should replace the single line text input for the Title:
  • Original Title: [text]
  • Initial Release Date: (yyyy,mm,dd)
  • Release format: [multiple choice]
  • Type: [multiple choice]
  • Episode: [check box available for Series or Pilot]
  • Episode title: [optional text available if Episode]
  • Episode season: [optional integer up to 4 digits if Episode]
  • Episode number within season: [optional integer < 4 digits if Episode season is set]
  • Episode number overall: [optional integer < 6 digits if Episode]
  • Episode initial release date (optional yyyy,mm,dd)
In addition, for Online releases, a Homepage URL should be required.

For an Episode, either both a season and episode number within season, an overall episode number, or an initial release date must be entered.

For an existing Pilot, adding an Episode changes the entry to a Series and the Pilot becomes an episode using the initial release date instead of an episode number (which can be added later).
