After the 02/07 update on iOS, checklist date added was removed. Why? What's the purpose? THE ONLY REASON I got so used to checking in films was to track and keep note of the date I've seen a particular film. NOW, there's literally no point in checking in films anymore.

Hi Ankhbayr and Dan,

This was an intended change by our iOS mobile teams. The default sorting will still remain;populating in the order of which title was added (most recent), however; the exact date will not be displayed on each title any longer as this was removed for a more streamline experience. I've passed your feedback on to our teams, however, please note this was intended and not the result of a bug/issue. Thanks,

Kurt

What's the point in adding ways to watch if you've just checked in to a see a movie why would you need to know ways to watch? I'd much prefer to see my check in dates. You are ruining your own app. Taking away the message board and now this. You're totally not in touch with your users.

Hey, Kurt.

I'm quoting from this page http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?checkins

"Check-ins are an IMDb feature that let you tell us that you have recently watch, are currently watching, or will shortly watch a title listed on IMDb. We will save all your check-ins so you can refer to them later in a list. You can optionally add a short comment and share your check-in with your friends on popular social networks."

Now obviously check-in's purpose was to keep track of what I'm watching or have watched. But if I can't see my check in dates, it's no more different than simply removing a title from my watch list. Just because of that, I'm seriously considering switching from iMDB to other sites.

Letterboxd offers check-ins and an ability to write a diary on your check-ins. I'd suggest other people, who are questioning why iMDB simply removes check-in dates in exchange of more streamline experience, this platform too.

When you take away the only experience from your app, there's nothing to streamline.

Thank you.

I'd like to add one more thing.

"Check-ins are an IMDb feature that let you tell us that you have recently watch, are currently watching, or will shortly watch a title listed on IMDb. We will save all your check-ins so you can refer to them later in a list. You can optionally add a short comment and share your check-in with your friends on popular social networks."

For your information, you're not able to do add a short comment on your check-ins on iOS. But you can do that on Android. I don't expect them to look exactly the same, but when your app is working in two separate ways on different OS, I think it's safe to say that that's the opposite of "streamline experience".

Thanks again.

I've used trakt for the past few years and it's perfect for keeping track of what you've watched and how many times. I used IMDb for message board and trivia, but even trivia is a joke these days.

Hey Dan and Martin. It's me, again.

Thanks for the suggestion, guys. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. I tried Trakt today and I've had a few questions.

- What's the best Trakt app on iOS?
- Is there anyway I can check-in films and TV shows in the same app? It seems like there's one for feature films and one for TV shows.
- Can I import all my watchlist, check-in list and ratings from iMDB to Trakt? It seems like there is TraktRater on Github which I can use. https://github.com/damienhaynes/TraktRater. Have you guys tried TraktRater?

Checking-in feature is definitely more complex and detailed than iMDB which I like. I just wish there was a way to keep track all of my check-ins and watchlist (regardless of TV show episode or a feature film) in a single app.

Thanks again, guys.

Hi there Walter. I don't use an app for Trakt but I know there is multiple. Because I primarily use an iPad I prefer just to use Trakt via safari. That way I'm able to track both movies and tv shows without having to have multiple apps.
I'm not sure you can import from IMDb. You might want to tweet Trakt and ask them. They are pretty good at responding.

I've tried emailing them multiple times about it and haven't had a response. They really don't care about their users.

I completely protest any action taken for my/our benefit without eliciting a significant percentage of viewers/readers votes on the matter. In psychology, this is deemed a Rescue which inevitably leads to bad feelings and, sometimes, actions. No response from management desired.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback here; our technical team has decided to review this further. As soon as I have more information from them I'll respond here.

Best.

Not just dates, all the other filtered information. For instance when I want to filter by runtime, before it would list movies and show the runtime under the image. If I wanted to filter by rating I could see my rating and the average rating under the image. The lists, check in features etc are pointless right now. The whole experience sucks. Just revert back to how it was and everyone will be happy. Thank you :)

The one thing that sets check-ins apart from being just another list is the check-in date. The point of a check-in list is to see what I watched and WHEN. Removing the check-in date renders the feature practically useless. Please put it back. Make it optional if you have to but please bring it back.

Hi All,

This should be resolved now as of the most recent iOS update, the check in list should now show the date the film was checked in on your list.

Thank you for your patience here.

Best,
Kurt

The app still is no where near as good as it was before this attempted 'streamlined experience'. When you added Ways to watch under each title in your lists you lost all the cool info like if you reorganized the list in runtime you'd see the runtime under the image, or by user rating you'd see the score of the movie. Now when you filter apart from filtering it in the order of what you selected you get no added info relating to what you filtered it for. You have to click on the movie to find basic info.
The ways to watch feature was fine on a titles page but it didn't need to be added to lists.

Too little, too late. Guys, if you're reading this and want a website that has a comprehensive look at your movie/tv show history then head to trakt.tv - it's amazing
