Someone keeps changing the order that I've entered for the series Cloak & Dagger. Here is the opening credit (and the ones in question).
There are two credits here. Based on general IMDb rules, I credit Aubrey Joseph first, since his credit nearer the top of the screen) and Olivia Holt second. All of the episodes were like this last week. Yesterday, I noticed someone had changed it to Olivia Holt credited first and Aubrey Joseph credited second. So, which is correct? (There are at least a few shows that show credits like this.)

Are these names repeated in the end credits? I would probably use the order from the end credits if two names are almost in the same row at the opening credits.

No. I am unaware of any US based show that repeats the stars in the end credits.

I have a feeling I've seen at least a few but I might need time to remember the examples. The only thing that comes to mind is "Twin Peaks" (2017), but it has no cast credits whatsoever in main titles, instead opting for movie-like end credits.

I haven't watched that one because I never got around to re-watching the original. I would say it's fairly odd for US TV but Lynch is fairly odd. Maybe, I should say non-premium US shows. There may be more shows on networks like HBO and Showtime that do this. (I think The Knick might be like Twin Peaks and only use end credits.)
Even still, that's a different case because there are no beginning credits. From my limited international TV series watching, only British and Australia (and maybe New Zealand) uses opening credits and then complete credits at the end.

It is also commonplace in Post-Soviet countries. "The Method" is so astonishingly lazy in that regard that EVERY episode has a full cast and crew of all the series in the end credits. I don't even know how to approach correcting that IMDb-wise, because it would have more then a hundred of people having "credit only" on every episode.

I don't think you can define a row or column as a single item as the arrangement of one item will always be in a straight line.

I think I was referring to both rows and columns. Almost everything that is not in one scroll tends to be confusing.
Here's an idea... Assign both Holt and Joseph the same number. Seems like the perfect compromise.

I don't think that would work well. Firstly, it will put them alphabetically, I guess. Secondly whenever I encounter something like that I re-check the order and correct it so it's basically just will be there till next concerned user will take measures. And if he will ask on these very boards it will come full circle. :)
Since it's deliberately designed to give neither one (or, I suppose, both) top credit, why not just fall back on alphabetical order?

I don't think that is true. Tonight's credit had Olivia Holt on top and Aubrey Joseph on the bottom. I'm not sure that the credits have rotated like this before.
The studio that makes the show probably doesn't even know, which may be why its credits sequences designer is doing this.
Adrian, I think that proves the point more - they're even rotating around which is top right and which is bottom left to make it even more even. I find it hard to believe at that level of production that these billing situations aren't completely hammered out ahead of time by agents, lawyers, actors, what-have-you.
