Would it be useful to enable list creators to "invite"
other users to collaborate as co-editors of a list?

(Such collaboration could sometimes lead to disputes.
Perhaps the list collaboration feature could be designed
with some safeguards to mitigate such problems.)

Captain Nemo (Latin for "Nobody")*,

IMDb polls are based on user created lists. There have been many times that it would have been very helpful to be able to edit another user's list with their permission in order to help them mature a poll suggestion.

The major downside I see is a matter of some users mistrusting IMDb staff or other users if this feature were to become available. Given some of the posts I've seen here, I could easily see claims of censorship if a list were to become corrupted.

Obviously, the original author of a list should be able to rescind edit access to a list.

* Henceforth I will call you this. "Nobody" seems way to informal. ;-)
