Commercial Sponsors as Miscellaneous Companies?

Someone is adding commercial sponsors of shows on the Fox News Channel and Fox News podcasts. They are listed under Miscellaneous (Other) Companies, with the attribute (promotional consideration provided by). This attribute is normally used in game-show credits for companies that have provided prizes free or at minimal cost. An example is here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12475952/reference. A check of two companies shows My Pillow listed on 38 titles and Fox Nation on 63 titles.

Am I correct in assuming that these credits should not have been accepted in the first place and can be deleted? If so, IMDb should contact this contributor about this matter. My guess is that this is the same contributor who added the keywords “produced-by-tucker-carlson” and “written-by-tucker-carlson” to the episode referenced above.

moodri,

It depends on how the information is displayed during the show. If these were TV commercials within the show (i.e. commercial breaks), this information should not have been added to the Miscellaneous Companies section.

However, if the credit information listed by ACT_1 appears during the show's closing credits, then they are eligible to be added to the Miscellaneous Companies section.

(I would lean toward the first statement and submit deletions for the reasons I've given.)

GMJ,

As the programs are mostly news/public affairs/commentary, there are no closing credits, and the commercials are between program segments.

Hi moodri -

If the commercial is in between segments and there are no on-screen credits I would agree with GMJ that these are ineligible to be listed as Company credits on the site.

Cheers!
