Since we can compare ratings now, it would be very useful I think to have a compatibility list. You could use it to find users with similar tastes and find new things to watch. Rateyourmusic has a feature like this. I'm not sure how it works, but by looking at their "compare" feature I would guess it works like this: if for one rating the other person's score is two points above or two points below yours or anywhere within the range between those two points, it will count it as a close enough rating that it adds to your compatibility score (and I think they go two points either way for the benefit of people who like to use a five-point scale (like me), or maybe so that scores won't always be incredibly low since most people have such wildly varying tastes). Anything else lessens it. An exact match might add to your compatibility score even more. Using this score they rank the top 100 highest scoring users for you, and they have a bar beside the usernames that represents the relative score.
The benefit of having the list is that you don't have to click through the profiles of every user on the entire site to find the ones most compatible with you, and most likely to recommend you something that you'll like. Not to mention that it's annoying to click through a bunch of profiles and see that none of them have made their ratings public. It's like, why bother looking at all?

From what I've been able to determine the list of users provided by the Explore User feature do not have ratings that correlate well with the user profile page. The majority of the ratings are not even public. My best guess is that the list is drawn of users is drawn from active users. Maybe one of the IMDb staff members can tell us how these users are selected.
