Hi. Long time reader, first time registerer. I noticed that IMDb has a voting option, that becomes available after release. I was wondering why that is? Wouldn't it be cool to be able to vote before-hand as way to gauge expectations of a movie, then track its change after release. I for one would love that.

Who, would you expect, be voting before it's available to the public?

That would encourage film makers, cast/crew and their families to vote tens so it looks good right out the gate and there'd be no votes from objective third parties.

All I see are pro lems. What do you suggest is the upside?
