CORRECTION ISSUES WHICH MUST BE ADDRESSED

A lot of edits and corrections I have made remain pending or, in the majority of cases, most have been denied for absurd reasons which, despite common sense and reliable sourcing, have been denied. In various cases, numerous edits to a single article result in one approval, a long pending period and every single other one denied (under the circumstances I outlined earlier in this post), which screams to me that something is wrong. ALSO, the time delays have been horrific lately.

Some of the edits are trivial, others quite important -- ALL are painstakingly made in good faith to improve the quality of the articles. I accept I can be wrong but there are no explanations except boilerplate claims such as, but not limited to, "Declined. Your contribution appears to be a duplicate of existing data listed on IMDb" (ironically, the reason I often make edits is to delete duplicated and redundant text, comments, etc).

Sometimes an edit will be approved and another almost identical one will be rejected. This does not make any sense and appears to indicate that edits are simply being ignored en masse because there are too many and whomever is/are responsible is/are overwhelmed. Sometimes, depending on the article, the number of edits may be overwhelming but it appears that rather than try to sort through it or to advise me how to better submit corrections so as not to overwhelm a limited editing staff/admins, all I get is a towering list of boilerplate excuses. If it is hard to deal with an extensive thread of interrelated deletions and consolidations, then tell me what to do, i.e. submit fewer at a time, which I will be happy to do, although it will delay me and force me to change my routine, always a hard thing to do, at least at first.

Please take a glance at my edit history to get an idea of what I am referring to.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: IF PERMITTED, I would be happy to assist by making the corrections myself and submit them for review to an administrator. I have been editing for so long and have made so many edits that I believe I am a seasoned editor in good standing.

Rob Sieger,

Please post the 18-digit reference number of the submission(s) so an IMDb representative can review the updates and respond.

I hope you guys haven't forgotten about me. Please review # 190516-053853-261200. It demonstrates the absurdities I have been describing.

Hi Rob -

I reviewed these submissions and noted that some are still pending, while some were incorrectly rejected which I have now approved.  However, the majority of Bio Trivia deletion requests were mostly not approved because the data is valid and meets our Trivia guidelines: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/biographical-data-guidelines/GMT9...

Note that we do allow relationship information, and amusing and interesting information about an individual.  Unless the trivia item falls under our "Unacceptable Bio-Trivia" criteria, we will retain the information on the site.

Thanks, Michelle. So, what qualifications are required to make/edit corrections on IMDb? (I am not sure what title that would be). I would like to volunteer my services, although if it is a paid position ... (LOL).

I believe I am highly qualified and have been editing IMDb for 19 years and have thousands of edits to my name.

Yours.

Hi Rob -

First, I just wanted to thank you for submitting updates to the site (editing IMDb for 19 years is amazing), it's contributors like who who have made the site what it is today and your dedication is very much appreciated.

Second, concerning your question, our only qualifications for submitting updates to the site is that a contributor follows our guidelines as closely as possible and submits knowingly accurate data.  Based on the other thread updates you have inquired about in Get Satisfaction, I can assure you that you are perfectly qualified to submit updates, in the case concerning the Trivia items in this thread, I would just encourage you to re-review our Trivia guidelines (as these can and do change over time).
