I am trying to add a credit, but it keeps being rejected, despite the fact it is correct. How can I stop my credit being rejected & add it to my IMDB profile?

Hello,

You mentioned that your credit is being rejected. When was the submission attempt made? Are you receiving a red error message preventing you from submitting the update?

If you can post the 18-digit reference number located in your email correspondence from IMDb or your personal Update History page, an IMDb representative can view the submission to see if there were any technical issues.

On the other hand, if you are getting a yellow error message, you'll need to acknowledge any warning messages before the update can be accepted.

I hope this helps.

I tried to submit a credit yesterday, but keep getting a red error message, normally you get a reference number to show your submission has been accepted and is being checked, but I just keep being rejected straight away with no reference.
Also I have noticed some changes have been made to my profile.  An old credit with my name misspelt has been added to my profile.  I have tried & tried to amend but cannot find how to.  Does anyone know how to contact anyone at IMDB who can help?

IMDb reps view the GetSatisfaction site daily so you can wait until you get a response from them usually within 24-48 hours.

If you prefer to handle this matter privately, contact the IMDb Help Desk for assistance. Make sure you are logged in to IMDb to view the form. In addition, provide as much information as you can on the error message you're receiving and links to the name pages (yours and the page with the misspelled name) so an IMDb rep can provide some answers.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hey Jemima,

Thanks for your post.

I can see your name page listed here:

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1196675/

If you're unable to see the submission listed in your history here then the contribution wouldn't have been sent to an editor for review and we cannot provide much information on why it may have been rejected.

When filling out the submission form there's an option at the bottom 'Save for Later' which can be used if you're having problems - if you save the submission it will appear in your history as such and you can provide us the reference number to look into for you to help figure out the problem.

Regarding the credit with the incorrect name spelling, if you're able to provide us some more information into which credit is the problem we can look into this further for you.

Hi Joel
I have tried again to submit my credit for Gunpowder, I did as you suggested & clicked on 'save for later', the reference number it gave me is 170607-133243-844200.  I will also contact the production company in case they can resolve this problem.

The issue regarding the incorrect name spelling is the credit Jemina Thomas Emmerdale (1972)
This has only appeared on my profile recently.  I did work on Emmerdale but only intermittently & from 2000 - 2005, and under the credit Jemima Thomas, which is the correct spelling.  If this cannot be corrected then I would rather it was removed from my profile.  Also now when I conduct a search for my name, it comes up with the title of Emmerdale beneath it, this also never used to happen.  It was always the most recent/high profile work your name would be associated with.  Now an immediate search of my name initially looks like I only work on Emmerdale, whereas I haven't worked there for a very long time and am doing more features now.  This again has only recently started happening.  I'm not sure has made these amendments to my profile, it certainly wasn't me and I would really appreciate them being rectified.
I hope this makes sense.
Many thanks

Are you trying to say Emmerdale isn't high profile?

I stumbled across your questions and profile when searching to see if there were any other questions like mine about Emmerdale and noticed you've worked on a lot of films and TV shows (Emmerdale, The Brides in the Bath, The Royal, White Girl, Spooks: Code 9, The Red Riding Trilogy, The Damned United, DCI Banks, Peaky Blinders, Catch Me Daddy, King Charles III, Gunpowder etc), which have all filmed in my city Bradford at some point, so I'm guessing you were born/raised/live somewhere in West Yorkshire.

You might not have done much work on Emmerdale back then,or worked at Emmerdale for a significant length of time, but you can't deny Emmerdale is a massive credit.

Yes Emmerdale might not be as big around the world as some of the films and TV shows you're known for, and yes Emmerdale might have been regarded as the "3rd biggest soap" back then, but it's easily the number 1 soap today.

In the last 5 years it's won more Best Soap awards in total than both Eastenders and Coronation Street, at a multitude of award ceremonies.

At the award ceremonies where the public get to vote rather than judges or critics inside the industry, Emmerdale is usually the one the public pick, while the most of the judges/critics seem to live in the past and still pick Eastenders or Coronation Street even when they've had a bad year.

Public opinion can't be argued with, as without all the Best Soap award wins, that were picked by judges/critics rather than the public, Emmerdale would be miles ahead of the rest.

Hi Jemima,

Thanks for your message. You needed to add a year for the credit in the attribute field which I've now done and submitted on your behalf. I've also amended the Emmerdale credit to remove the incorrect aka but unfortunately the search result title is controlled by an algorithm which we have no manual control over. Once someone clicks through to your page they will still be able to see all of your other credits though.

Thanks,
Will

Hi Will, thanks for all your help so far. I still have a couple of issues over my Imdb profile.  I have a credit as the script supervisor on Hunderby, but I have never worked on that production and I have no idea how I have been credited with it.  I have tried on numerous occasions to have my credit removed from that production but so far with no success.  I would very much like to have it removed from my profile.
Also the Emmerdale credit is still an issue, When I search my profile the initial credit to come up is still Emmerdale.  I have not worked on that production for many, many years & it is not representative of my work today.  I'm concerned it could prevent people from looking at my profile in further detail as it may look like I don't have the required experience.  If the algorithm cannot be altered manually please may I have the Emmerdale credit removed completely?  It never used to be the first credit to show, it has been amended by someone recently and if it cannot be reverted back to how it originally was, then I would prefer that the credit isn't there at all.  The most recent and higher profile productions always used to show first, I do not know why & how this has changed, but as I use my profile page as a means for getting further work I would really like it to be an accurate representation of my career.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks j

Jemima: You do have the option of changing the titles you are "known for" if you subscribe to IMDbPro and claim your page. See http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domain=helpdesk_faq&index=1&file=knownfortopfaq and http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domain=helpdesk_faq&index=1&file=knownforcontrols for details.

I don't work for IMDb, so I am not trying to "sell" you on paying for an IMDbPro subscription. This is just an option that you may want to consider.

Also, I think that the "Emmerdale Farm" credit is listed as the #1 credit you are known for because it isn't associated with any specific episodes. Thus, the software assumes that you have been associated with the show for a much longer period of time than you actually were. The software isn't able to interpret the "continuity - 2000" and "production assistant - 2000" jobs as referring to working on the show for only one year. If your credit were added to specific episodes rather than at series level, it might help the situation.
