When a foreign-language film (eg Azur et Asmar (2006) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439123/combined) is dubbed into English for English release and consequently has a different credit list, what is the convention in IMDB? Should the character names for the English cast be the same as those in the original-language release, or should they match what's in the credits (eg "La Fée des djinns" versus "Djinn Fairy")? And should those credits be listed with credit order, distinguished from the original French credits by the attribute (voice: English version), or should they be un-ordered to separate them from the original French credits?

Hi Martin -

You should list the English credits exactly as they are credited on-screen, so if the character is credited under the name "La Fée des djinns" in the french release but listed as "Djinn Fairy" in the English release, the character name should be listed with the English name: "Djinn Fairy".

The English version credits should be listed/ordered below the original french cast.

I have some related questions.

I came across with one European animation (short) film which is released in two language versions (multilingual country, so both seems to be "official"). Now, some of the actors are actually voicing BOTH versions of the same character (and with some roles, there are two different voice actors).

How the character names (etc) should be added when one actor is voicing two language versions? And these type of cases, is it preferable to add "voice: English version" or "voice: French version" to every actor?

For example (english/french) can I add them like this:

- John, James -- -- Dog/Chien (voice: English/French versions)

- Dubois, François -- -- Chat (voice: French version)

- Smith, Jimmy -- -- Mouse (voice: English version)

etc.
