Credits for Trailers and Television Spots

IMDB now has a Credit for "Trailer Editors". I have a two part question:

1. To add a Trailer Credit you have to list the website it plays on. What about when it actually plays in the movie theater only?

2. How can you input a Credit for an editor who only edited television spots for the movie? Does this count as a trailer, and even if so, how am I supposed to input it when it only goes on Television and not on a website?

Hawkeye: Where is this requirement that you have to list the website that a trailer plays on? I hadn't heard about that. Can you provide a link to the page or a screen shot that describes the situation?

Also, I thought that work on a trailer would be eligible for listing in IMDb only if the person received an on-screen credit in the film's original theatrical release -- in which case it would just be submitted as an ordinary Other Crew or Miscellaneous Crew credit. See http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domain=helpdesk_faq&index=1&file=resumeeligible&ref_=hlp...:

Please also be aware that there are certain types of credits that we do not list unless they are specifically credited on-screen: these include work on marketing elements of a film (work on key art, trailers etc.), or on non-theatrical versions (e.g. DVD authoring, supplemental materials, captioning, re-editing for video, telecine and digital restoration work etc.), or on localized releases (dubbing, dialogue translation/editing on foreign versions etc.). We do not list these credits unless the person has received an on-screen credit for his work in the original theatrical version of the film (not on the homevideo version).
So I would need some more context to understand the situation.

Hi gromit82, When I go to add a credit to the Crew Page the only entry for Trailer Editors is under the section "Links to Other Sites". I guess this is why a link is required. I've attached a picture.

I could not find an email address to contact anyone because, as you mentioned in the guidelines, I would like to petition an add-on to the Crew page for Trailer Editors (credited or uncredited). Just trying to get some recognition for my fellow colleagues in the field.

That form is not to add a credit for a Trailer Editor, but ratherĀ  to create a link to the trailer on the page being updated. Obviously this requires the Trailer to be available online, as it is rather difficult to stream a trailer that is only available in theatres.

Hawkeye: Since what you are looking for now is a change to the policy to allow trailer editors to be listed in the database, I would recommend starting a new thread here on this site, as an Idea or Problem, to say that the policy at http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domain=helpdesk_faq&index=1&file=resumeeligible&ref_=hlp... should be changed to allow trailer editors to be listed in IMDb.

I don't know if IMDb will implement this idea, but at least you will have the chance to garner supporters with people clicking "Me Too" to your idea.

Good luck!
