Hello all,

Is that policy to not alter or delete any valid films or shows permanent?

If it is factual and reliable, there is no reason to alter the data, as per IMDb policy.

I would think it is permanent for the sake of counteracting revisionism and, for lack of a better word, coverups. The lack of the policy might not even matter, though; as there exists the Internet Archive. Also, "In a hundred years, who is going to care?". It's not like today's people will be around to suffer ostracization from the people of the future. The concept of publication will continue to evolve of course, and IMDb will probably continue evolve with it. When you publish something, you do so knowing that information about it and its makers will be archived by other people. That in and of itself is like an "all-time" staple of society.

Lena: Please see the thread at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/i-would-need-to-speak-to-an-imdb-employee where substantially the same question was asked before and answered by Col Needham, the CEO and founder of IMDb. Similar topics were also addressed in the same way in the threads at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/all-content and https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/removals.

If you have a specific title in mind which you think has been deleted, or should have been deleted, or is at risk of being deleted, or anything else like that, please provide all the details so that the contributors and staff can give you a better answer.
