What is the difference between "Screenplay" and "Written by" credits?

The Screenplay credit is normally used when there's a separate credit for the Story writer.

When the same writer is the author of both Story and Screenplay, the 'Written by' term is used.

For more details, please see the official definitions from the Writers Guild of America.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a newer version of the page on the Writers Guild of America site.

Thanks for letting us know.  We have removed that sentence from the help text (and it should disappear from the site later today).
