Declined primary image suggestions, the problem remains

The issue is the same I have already described in https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/becoming-sick-of-someones-incompetence and more recently in https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/primary-image-suggestion-issue-part-ii. The large majority of primary image suggestions keep on getting declined for incomprehensible reasons, at this point I think the reviewer do not even check the images.

Here is some fresh exemples from a string of contributions declined in the last few days for "not enough evidence" or wathever reason it actually was.

Waco (1966) (#170915-232718-877102 ) current primary image is basically a poor-looking screenshot with the title appended, I suggested the official poster

Bernardine (1957) ( #170915-232828-340902 ) current primary image is a screenshot, I suggested the official poster

The Dude Goes West (1948) ( #170916-012325-866502 ) current primary image is a video cover, I suggested the official poster

Rich, Young and Pretty (1951) ( #170916-213328-181602 ) video cover again, I suggested the official poster

Behind Enemy Lines (1986) ( #170917-070752-152802 ) current image is... I am not sure, I suggested the official poster

Platinum High School (1960)  ( #170917-071603-618102 ) current primary image appears to be a promotional image, maybe a lobby card, more likely a pic from a magazine

A Private's Affair (1959) ( #170917-071441-453902 ) current primary image looks like a shoddy amateur pseudo-poster made by some teenager who started using computer a week ago, I suggested the official poster

Convicts 4 (1962) ( #170917-191805-460402 ) another video cover, I had suggested the official poster

The Strange One (1957) (#170917-191816-549402 ) VHS

Two Girls and a Sailor (1944)  ( #170918-071538-120302 ) same as above

Yo! Stefano, I have fixed most of these for you, and I found a few better versions of posters that I have uploaded. They may take a few days to appear. My primary image suggestions usually get accepted almost immediately. If you are uploading new images they make take a day or two to show. I usually add a comment like "Theatrical release poster", when I suggest primary images. Phew, there's so many that need adding and fixing, I seem to do several a day, sometimes 10 a day. And always finding more.

Would like to hear a comment from admins, if they can speed up the process for uploading posters, sometimes I'm waiting 3 or 4 days for posters to appear. After destroying the boards IMDb said they will dedicate all their time to updates, I don't see much of a change. When you are updating it helps if it's done quickly or I can start to forget which titles I'm updating and have to keep long lists.

And can you please add the 'suggest as primary image' button to the page, when you are uploading a new theatrical poster? Saves time having to wait for the image to appear, then trying to get it added as the primary image. It would be easier to kill two birds with one stone.

Hi Steve -

Thanks for your feedback.  Currently there is a backlog for name (1520 pending) and title (1005 pending) images, see here.  We are making changes in the near future to help drive-down the backlog.  In the meantime, I will forward your comments to our editors for review.

Thank you very much Steven for the collaboration and for your suggestions. If you read my previous thread about the issue, I got declined for "not enough evidence" tens of primary image suggestions with overly detailed descriptions, even for the most obvious cases, such as "“Poster. Current primary image is a soundtrack album cover” or "official poster, current primary image is just an amateur artwork consisting of a cropped screenshot and the title".  At this point, based on my experience,  I have come to believe that adding a summary is perfectly useless, as my contributions get accepted or declined on the basis of the reviewer who check (or not properly check) them, wathever the summary is.

Hi Stefano -

I was able to see that all the image submissions you referenced were rejected.

Concerning the  submissions for "Bernardine (1957)" ( #170915-232828-340902 ) and "Two Girls and a Sailor (1944)" ( #170918-071538-120302 ), these were rejected because they were a breach of our policy.

For the remaining submissions, these were not accepted because our editors were unable to verify the source.  If you are able to provide additional information abut the source of these images, please post the source details here and our staff can take another look.

Sorry Michelle, I literally don't understand your reply at all. I am absolutely unsatisfied by this kind of beurocratic, vague and not-on-point response. I am not even sure you understand the issue.

All the poster images we are talking about already were and still are online in IMDb relevant films' galleries, I merely suggested them as primary images instead of screenshots or video covers. For the record, Steven Arnold, as he had anticipated above, re-suggested the same images as primary images (except a couple he found in better versions), and had ALL OF THEM EVENTUALLY ACCEPTED.

At this point I am curious to know how suggesting http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050184/mediaviewer/rm2539000832 and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037408/mediaviewer/rm3829596160 as primary images is " a breach of our policy", especially as they are still there and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037408/mediaviewer/rm3829596160  was eventually accepted as primary image (after being declined to me, it was eventually accepted upon Steven's suggestion).

Please note I didn't uploaded new material, I merely suggested those images as primary images as per https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/title-primary-image-suggestions, if there was a source issue it should had been raised in the "upload-accepting" phase. If these images have serious source issues or violate policies, they should be deleted, instead them all are still there.  And again, Steven re-suggested all of them as primary images and they were all accepted.

Hi Stefano,

Thanks for your patience.

I've taken a look into a couple of your primary change examples:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050184/mediaviewer/rm2539000832 - This should be rejected as the dimensions of the image would likely cause it to display incorrectly as a primary.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037408/mediaviewer/rm3829596160 - This should be accepted as a new primary, assuming the existing primary was not already a popular poster

Now these images have been updated I can't compare your suggestions against the original primary images which means I can't provide further information as to why they may have been rejected.

We really appreciate your continued efforts to keep IMDb as up to date and accurate as possible, please do let us know if you experience further issues with this and we'll do our best to provide more in depth answers where possible.

Thanks for your support.

Joel
