In college I was assigned to help with another student's film project. He linked me to this on IMDB, but I never gave my consent and do not wish to be associated with it. Please take my name off!
Just as nobody's consent is required for a newspaper article to be published about him/her, nobody's consent is required for an IMDb name entry to be created and maintained about him/her. Furthermore, it is IMDb's policy not to remove, from the IMDb site, factual information relevant to the motion photographic areas of the humanities or about the participants of such projects.
Hi, Dorie Deats. The only permissible things to do would be assign the attribute "(credit only)" to the particular filmography item that you are challenging. Also, the item in the IMDb name video gallery about you (also the same item in the "Related Videos" section of the desktop IMDb name page about you) could be decoupled from the IMDb name entry about you by the IMDb site authorities, since you were a crew member rather than a cast member of the particular project, and some leeway might be allowed for customizing the tagging of crew. If it pleases you, submit a request through the IMDb Contact Us form, under the topic "IMDb Fan/Contributor questions", the issue "Images & video" and the issue details "Remove/Update videos"; informing the company that you don't want the thumbnail/hyperlink to the short movie appearing on your profile.
The short film "Broken" is linked to your page. If you watch the credits "Dorie Deats" is clearly credited as "Director of Photography". Since this is a publicly available film and the credit is clearly stated, it is already public information and IMDb is merely cataloging it.
