Why does IMDb list sports events as "TV movies"? As an example, I'm at the personal page for Pat Healy, at , and all these mma events are listed TV movies. Change it already.

The IMDb classifies television broadcasts in the following categories:

TV series
TV mini-series
TV episode
TV movie
TV special

You can override the "TV movie" label by adding the keyword tv-special to the title's page. This is how the earliest two credits on Healy's page got to be identified as "TV Special" instead of "TV Movie".

Related question about the documentaries. If I understand it correctly:

TV movie = FICTION
TV special = NON-FICTION

Now, I recently added one TV documentary (that was clearly the case, no question about it) to the database which I listed as a "TV special" - and added genres "documentary" and "sports". It was then added to the site as a "TV movie".

My question is that was this a mistake (by the IMDB team), or are some documentaries still listed as "TV movies"? Like I said, this was a full length documentary from the late 1970s.

Thank you.

Same problem with wrestling PPVs, they also get listed as "TV Movies."
