Drama series with music videos (feat. dancers)

I came across with a drama series from the 1990s that also includes two "MTV style" music videos in each episode. I guess it's a bit like Fame, Glee etc, but in this one the music videos are just included in part of the episode (they're not really "musical numbers" per se).

Series has real actors and characters, but the music videos also include background dancers which are credited in the end credits right after the actors (as "dancers"). I'm I right assuming that the dancers should be credited as "Himself/herself" since they're not part of the dramatic/acting part of the series (they only appear in the music videos)?

Thanks.

That's a tricky one Eboy,
There's an old rule that everything can only be included once.
So if the dancers are already credited in those same videos elsewhere then they shouldn't be included in this drama series.

In any case, if they're only in music videos, if the video is already included in the IMDb then the dancers in it shouldn't be credited at all in this drama series.

Or, if they're credited in the drama series, then maybe they can be. As I said, it's a tricky one.

Ah, perhaps I wasn't all that clear, but these music videos were shot for this series (some of the main characters are appearing and singing in them). And all the music/songs are composed for the series. So the dancers are not credited on those videos elsewhere. But the dancers does not appear in the "acting" parts of the series.

But like in the series with Glee etc where the musical numbers are seamlessly incorporated to the story (to my understanding, at least), in this one the music videos are just placed in the middle of the episode (meaning, that the characters doesn't e.g. sing and dance in the school like in Glee etc).

If they are listed in credits as "dancers", I would think the character name for each one should be "Dancer".

Hi Eboy,

If you are able to provide us with a screengrab of how the dancers appear in the end credits we will be able to look into this for you.

Thanks

I already explained how they’re credited, screenshot won’t make any real difference in this case (I don’t have access to the actual program right now, since I’m on a holiday). They’re after the normal ”Cast” in the end credits, and are simply credited as ”Dancers” (also the name of their ”dance group” is credited, since they’re all part of the same dance academy).

Let’s not make this too complicated. The main question is that should they be treated as part of the cast, or ”him/herself”. The answer from Peter could the right one after all.

I agree with Peter. If they have an on-screen credit as "Dancer" then just list them as "Dancer"
