For the movie Breaker Morant, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080310/ in the quotes section the character of George Witton's name is incorrectly spelled as George Wittow. I tried to edit it, but the editing process would not allow me to correct it.

This one is a little tricky. Either the quotes were added before a character name was added in the cast list, or the character name in the cast list was incorrect at the time the quotes were added, but was corrected later. Since the character name in the quote does not have to match the character in the cast list, it will not be changed automatically when the latter is changed.

To correct this, you need to go to the quotes page for Breaker Morant and click on Edit page near the bottom.

Select Correct / Delete beside Quotes.
Click Continue (at the bottom of the page)

Change the Keep: to Correct in the Action field beside each quote that has the mis-named character. (I believe there are 4)
Click Check these updates.

For each selected quote:
  1. Select Other on the dropdown for the George Wittow (Lewis Fitz-Gerald) item in the top section.
  2. Click Check these updates.
  3. Choose Fitz-Gerald, Lewis from the dropdown in the Name field, This will cause the Character field to autofill with Lt. George Ramsdale Witton, which is the Character name on the Cast list. I recommend you leave this as is, but you may edit it if you have a reason to feel it is not correct.
  4. Enter the Explanation e.g. Correcting character name.
  5. Click Re-check these updates.
The corrected quotes should now all have a green background, and you can Submit these updates.

Just a note: The character name sometimes needs to be different from the Cast listing. For example a character might be listed as just Various, but obviously a quote would need to specify which of the various characters is speaking.
