How do I update a bunch of episode titles? (We want to add English titles to the foreign language titles currently in place, as well as fix a few misspellings.)

Episode-type title entries do not have AKA titles.

Hi CliffJ -
As Jeorj mentioned above, we don't support the addition of Alternative titles on series or episode title pages, however, there may be some titles listed on the site prior to this policy that will display a foreign language/AKA title.

So should I add an English title in parentheses after the Spanish or Portuguese title, or should I leave it off if it didn't air that way? (We are translating them now.)

And how do I fix the misspellings on individual episodes?

Hi Smiling Michelle,
Hey, what do you do about well established titles that become recently dubbed into another language? How do you serve the user? Some Languages are pretty easy to "Get the drift" of what the title description is, and names are easy. But what about Russian titles that go to the global market. I'm pretty sure you don't want the same title in the database 6 times over for the most common languages. Is there a plan for at least an AKA edit being reinstated?
Thanks,
Cheers.

Ellice,

Michelle just mentioned the alternative titles are NOT allowed for series and episodes... (even though I do object very strongly to the rule for series title... but that is another issue)

Titles should be registered the way they are displayed on screen, so you CANNOT add English title between parenthesis.

Now you are welcome to correct misspelling, using the "Edit page" button at the bottom of the page, and then "Title update" option (the one before the last option, down at the bottom). You should also prepare a supporting evidence such as URL link, a screen capture, etc.

Surely Michelle only meant episodes, not series titles.

Even though the deep trend is to show series with their original titles, especially when these are in English (quite often for Scandinavian ones), I found the superb counter-example: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/reference
where AKA titles have been widely used.

I understood what she said. (Episodes excluded) I mean episode titles included in AKA. I know series have AKA's.
Thanks Peter,
Cheers.

Vincent, Michelle said "OLDER" titles were under the "OLD" programming and show AKA's. The new upgraded programming has it omitted from being an editable parameter.
New and improved with less data? LOL

You are right  Cliff. And the AKAs in the example I provided were set before the new rule.
I do pretend that this rule, when it comes to series title, is the most stupid by far that IMDb applies. I do not understand, if the system permits it, why IMDb could not record the local title of a series presented with a title different from the original one (as often the case for Geman series on French TV). It does not make any sense...

Hi all,

Just to confirm that the episode title should be the original language episode title and should not include the English translation.

Regards,
Will

I would still like to edit some individual episode titles. I understand how to change the series title and add an alternate series title, but I do not know how to update individual episode titles.

If you click Edit Page on an episode's page, you will find Episode Title/Number near the bottom of the list.
