I don't know if this error is everywhere, but with this movie it is quite obvious, that there is an issue in caluclating and counting votes.
See: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1916763/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt

There are 46 votes counted but only 37 Male and 5 female (that's 42) and 17 US and 25 NON-US (42 again)??

The 36 males have an average of 3.6, the only 5 females of 5.8 => how can the arithmetic mean be 5.6 then??? Even more obvious with US (4.8) and NON-US (2.6) => how can the arithmetic mean be higher than these two values?

The arithmetic means for each demographic group include all of the votes and are correctly calculated for this film.

What may be confusing is that the weighted average filters out votes. Since IMDb does not disclose how they filter votes, the results may seem counter-intuitive. In addition, the methods IMDb uses work well for titles with thousands of votes, but less so for titles with much fewer votes.

Weighted Average Ratings

IMDb publishes weighted
vote averages rather than raw data averages. Various filters are applied to the
raw data in order to eliminate and reduce attempts at 'vote stuffing' by
individuals more interested in changing the current rating of a movie than
giving their true opinion of it.
The exact methods we use will not be disclosed. This should ensure that the
policy remains effective. The result is a more accurate vote average.

Sorry Dan, but how can you say all is correct, when the summary of male and female votes is not identical to the total votes. Are there Neutrum-users? That has nothing to do with the weighted average.

There are voters who don't supply gender or age information (or any demographic data), so yes that accounts for the total.
