I love this suggestion! Never knew John Wayne was also a bit of a singer. Then again, he was technically in Star Wars (1977), so it's not the most surprising fact about him I've heard recently.

He provided the voice of Imperial spy Garindan in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope via stock audio. Wayne's voice was processed greatly for the movie.

Tim Blake Nelson played a singing cowboy in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018), but he only has two soundtrack credits on IMDb.

Would have never picked him as a singer. Was surprised when I researched this!

When you say that John Wayne's  "filmed songs were dubbed," do you mean by someone else? That's what I assumed, which made me question his inclusion in the poll, since Tim Blake Nelson is not included. I looked on John Wayne's IMDb page, though, and he has several credits for performer. I did a Google search to hopefully end my confusion but I'm only more confused. Can you offer any clarity?

It's rumors mostly on Wayne, but Tim Blake Nelson is not known for but what 1 cowboy role?
Thats why Wayne is included.
Recognition and his credits.
Milli Vanilli are still considered singers as are the Monkees even though they had the majority of their work played and sung by others (Dubbed)

I can compromise and replace Wayne with another cowboy singer of the period. Ricky Nelson did a couple of stints in the sixties on westerns or there are 10 or so lesser known Cowboy Singers of the 1930s.

Don't read anything more into my post than what it says: don't worry, I try to be very precise. I'm not lobbying for Tim Blake Nelson; I'm just confused about Wayne but not even so much for the poll. I guess I have two questions if anyone can shed some light:

So it's just rumors that Wayne's songs were dubbed?

If a song is dubbed, will the performance be credited to the apparent singer or the actual singer or both? (In general and on IMDb, under "Soundtracks")

Oh, and a third: I know about Milli Vanilli but the Monkees were dubbed?!

Suzy! You forget I'm an old guy! Yes the Monkees music was dubbed by studio musicians. They sang but I believe Peter Tork was the only proficient musician!

Now for Wayne, he and the singer that dubbed should both be credited, but in that day and age those things were kept tightly under wraps. Just like the Andie MacDowell dub in Tarzan was kept secret for many many years because of her deep southern drawl.

Rubee says Woof Woof.
My new cat says say Meow too! His names Pitch. He's all black and a Bobcat mix breed.

Oh no! Now Dibby isn't the only one calling me Suzy?! I have to admit that I think it's funny but yikes, where does it end? Lol.

And oh my gosh, he's really a Bobcat mix? Are people afraid of him or is he pretty domesticated? Either way, he sounds beautiful; give him my best - and to Rubee, too, of course.
