In 1993, the living icons of the gangster genre (and eternal rivals) Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, played against type, respectively as a father trying to keep his son away from the influence of a local crime boss, insisting that the real hero is the working man or a former criminal seeking a honest life and trying to stay away from crime and violence.

Which of the two anti-gangster classics of 1993: Carlito's Way and A Bronx Tale, is your personal favorite?

Hard choice, because I liked both very much. I would probably go for Carlito's Way (1993).

That's because it was two long paragraphs before and I felt it was too long an intro then I tried to condense them into that unreadable block.

I'm yet to see either but I'm more interested in venturing into Carlito's Way (1993). Love the sandlot option, though :P

Perfect choice for face-off, TWO OF MY FAVORITES.

 I think what makes it tough is they are very different films. But, I am huge fan of the look of Brian De Palma films, so it sort of tips the scales for Carlito's Way.

Carlito's Way, although I only saw half of Bronx Tale and thought it was great so once I see the whole thing, which this poll reminds me to do, I might vote for Bronx. Sean Penn's performance in Carlito's Way, was, like most of his performances, virtuoso. 'Great poll, once again, ElMo. 

Oh, may I suggest a small edit (in bold below)? 'Just a comma instead of a colon...
