There's an interesting trivia about five performers who just got Oscar-nominated for acting, they all won Oscars in five consecutive years, from 1990 to 1994.

Which of them would you love to see win another Oscar in the next ceremony?

I want Al Pacino to win. I love him so much.

Me too, in another year, he would have swept the awards but Pitt was included in the same category and Pesci stole the show by playing the opposite of his Tommy De Vito. I sincerely think Pacino is the most deserving though I didn't see Hanks' film.

I got to admit that Pesci impressed me even more but I'll be happy for either him or Pacino. Don't know what was so special about Pitt's performance. It would be strange if he wins something for OUATIH when DiCaprio doesn't.

I totally agree about Pitt, the Academy loves supporting performances in QT's movies but while Pitt's laid-back attitude was fun to watch, it's not like he had some moments that gave him another dimension of likability or vulnerability like Leo had and as I said anyway, Pitt was co-lead so the supporting category was just the trick to get him in awards radar in a crowded year.

Pesci impressed me in the sense that I didn't expect his role to be that big, I know he's a talented actor and his performance deserved recognition, but I think it's the kind of acting that is easier to pull than characters who are more 'emotional', Pesci plays the kind of intimidating boss who can't show "showy" emotions, it's not exactly Brando in "The Godfather" but more Kingsley in "Bugsy", Pesci played a similar character in "A Bronx Tale", so these are mobsters who master the art of 'underacting'.

And Pesci wonderfully plays the man who 'underacts', which gives the impression that Hoffa overacts (remember their dialogue near the end), Pacino had the toughest role because he had to be intimidating yet vulnerable, strong yet subtly pathetic, energetic but not too over-the-top, hammy but in the right way... it's the kind of performances that can easily get you in Razzie territory but he succeeded.

That's true, although Pacino has mastered that before, while Pesci is now nominated for the third time for a Scorsese-tough Italian guy movie, yet his performances are surprisingly different from each other.

I have seen 3 of these performances (The Irishman and The Two Popes) considering only those roles, which I think is the only thing that should be weighted when deciding the winner, I would like Joe Pesci to win. He has a great role and really helps Pacino and De Niro to shine.

Good poll, ElMo, of course, and tough choice. I'd probably vote for Kathy Bates or Anthony Hopkins but this is strong list of strong actors with strong performances -- ouch, lol. Strong lists like this make voting hurt a little. : )

Would it be tolerable if I'm the punctuation nerd that I am and suggest one small edit? If so, the recommended edit is a colon instead of a comma.

Thanks ruby :) No problem, I should have seen this one coming, I don't know what it is with my comma obsession.
