I'm sure this was fixed for a while, but it showed up again when I deleted some replies to the Mrs. Mel Tormé thread we were using for testing. The date picked up as the latest post on the favorites page is actually the latest deletion which can be buried deep on the board and can be impossible to find because it is not even dated there. The board is No Highway (1951).

I'm still getting false alarms from those deleted posts.

The best solution would be to turn the "Latest Posting" time on the favorites page into a link. The absurdity of linking to a deleted post would then be more apparent.

This is interesting; when I add "No Highway" to my favorites list, I get a "last posting" date of Aug 19th.

This seems to be a bug with the underlying engine and not the new display code. "Deleted" state propagates asynchronously through the database, so it's possible that something has got dropped or stuck at some stage (or it's possible that there's a long-standing bug w.r.t. "last posting" when deletes happen).

Probably the fastest way to fix this is to make a posting on that thread/board; hopefully it will reset the problem going forward. Or you could try deleting it as a favorite and then readding it. Other than that, we'll have to wait for resources to look into the problem (it doesn't seem widespread at all so it's going to be difficult to justify resources to fix it).

Yes, I also have a last posting date of 8/19 on the favorites and 8/6 on the board. In my experience making a post will only fix it until someone deletes something. It's not much of a problem on active boards, but it nevertheless creates false alarms whenever anything is deleted.

I'll bet you won't be able to find the deletion that triggered the false date. You are right about it being a long-standing bug.

Are you telling me that you programmers don't have a choice on which date to pull? That would tend to introduce chaos into the system if it's true in other cases.

Obviously the boards themselves are pulling the correct date and the favorites are not. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the favorites have a logical programming bug that has not been introduced on the boards, otherwise they would display the date of the last deletion as well.
