Hi there,
My post was archived and closed before I could respond, so here it is again:
Our film festival is listed on 4 or 5 films under their release date info, yet when I add a new release date with the exact same film festival name it always comes up as being unknown. Each time I include our festival under a film's release date, IMDb wants to "add this as a new attribute."
Yet, the film festival is already listed under a few films, and the spelling is always the same. How can this be happening when the festival is already listed on IMDb several times? And why do I have to add it as a new attribute each time? (I gave the database some time to update itself, too. But this has been an issue for a year now.)
See here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7206032/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_dt_2
And here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6441186/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_dt_2

Hi MonoJon,
I am not familiar with the handling of festivals in IMDb. I notice that this festival is not registered as such in the database.
For the 2 examples you have provided, the reference is a mere release data attribute, and it sure does not show in the drop down list of proposed attributes.
What if you just tick "add this as a new attribute"?

Hi,
Just wondering if this issue is still being looked into? My film festival is still not being listed in the drop-down attribute list even though it is posted as a Canadian release date for several films on IMDb.
Thanks

Hi MonoJon -
I checked the status of the ticket, unfortunately due to other priorities there is no current plan to fix this, however rest assured that our technical team is aware of the issue and will track it for a fix in the future.

Okay. Can someone at IMDb just manually add my festival to the attributes dropdown menu in the 'release dates' section?

No I can't. That's the whole reason for this thread (see above).

It doesn't show because it is not in the release date attributes. It has to be added by IMDb staff and from what the reply from Michelle, Official Rep says is they are too busy to do this at this time. Nothing can be done until it is added and you will just have to wait. Sorry but that's the way it is. It was obviously there in the past but for some reason removed.

Hi Lucy. Thanks for your input. But just to clarify, our festival was never listed as an attribute. It was not removed from the attributes list because it was never there to begin with. Still, there are several films that list our festival under their release dates, eg., https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7206032/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_dt_2
Bizarre, huh?

Oh well, I guess you will just have to wait until it is added. Sorry I can't offer more hope.

What is wrong with just selecting the radio-dial option "Add this as a new attribute" regardless of the attribute already existing? I'm confused.

I do. I have. I've done that several times on several occasions, but IMDb just doesn't "remember" the festival or add it to the attributes list. Weird!

I do not know why I have not noticed this before. I may have created a new attribute for this data type only once.

Hi Michelle,
Any updates on this issue? Just a refresher of my problem: Our film festival is listed on several IMDb films' Release Date pages, yet does not show up in the Attributes dropdown list when adding Release Date data to a film. ie. Our festival name already appears on films' IMDb pages but is nowhere to be found in "Release Dates" attributes when updating.
It just makes it harder for filmmakers to add our festival to their film's IMDb page when they can't select it from a list, and then when they do type it in, IMDb says that the festival doesn't exist.
Thanks!

Hi MonoJon,
Unfortunately there is no update as of yet, a fix was put in place which solved some of the underlying issue, but not your case. As soon as we have an update I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Will

Okay, thanks for the update.
Do you know if this issue is affecting other film festivals, too?

I've checked off "add this as a new attribute" 4 or 5 times now. Every time I add it to a film's release date. IMDb just refuses to add it to the dropdown attribute list for some reason.
