I am trying to identify a movie (film noir?; late 40s-early 50s?). I can't recall any of the leads (John Payne?) or the plot/action. But in one scene late in the picture a man who I believe is a friend of the leading man recalls that when his wife left him years before, he loved her so much and was so sure she would return to him that he shaved each night before going to bed. I seem to recall that the setting for this conversation was some kind of theater. Does this ring bells for anyone?
