For movie, "Glass (2019)," weird: "Writers" section near top has M. Night Shyamalan twice. I went to edit that and he's in there twice for written by, and characters, attributes. Why does IMDb feel the need to list his same name and link twice, for Writers?
Cheers,

Hi, Peter Leftwich. Sometimes this because of a technical nuance of the way title page merging operations work. The system does not combine or overwrite duplicated data for all data types, so the process results in duplicate items in certain data categories. However, that is not the case with Glass, whereby the effect is very much intended on account of the guidelines for ordering writers' credits. The distinct attributes "(written by)" and "(characters)" will imply two separate credit groups in cases where one is designated before the other in the on-screen credits. Granted, I do not know how the presentation of the credits within the actual movie looks, but the IMDb technical interpretation of such a presentation can be viewed (and edited) at https://contribute.imdb.com/updates?update=tt6823368:writers.correct.

I'm very much interested whether there's characters credit, so I will keep my eyes open for that. That happens from time to time that one person is credited as both character creator and writer and it depends more on shared rights with characters rather then WGA regulations, I guess.

@ Jeorj Euler - Better to have a name twice than not at all! Just found it strange..

Hi Peter,

Yes this can happen dependent on the WGA arbitration, but I don't think the (characters created by) is correct in this case as it is not included on the poster. I've removed it for now until this can be verified.

We were correct to remove it; the on-screen credit in the movie is simply “Written and directed by ...”
