Friends List: change order based on latest activity

Before the current tampering with the message boards, it was possible to click on the "latest activity" column and, not surprisingly, change the order of names on my friends list from "A-Z" to "latest activity."

This feature was particularly helpful, because I could log on, go to my friends list, change the order to latest activity, and easily see which of my friends was currently active on the boards.

Could we get this handy feature re-instated?

Initially I assumed the loss of ability to change the order of people on a friend's list, which had worked well for years, was a glitch that should be corrected.

Now I'm thinking the feature must have been removed, for reasons unknown, and would like to know if it can be reinstated.

So far, I haven't got an answer either way.
