CliffJ,

Your fourth choice, In the News (1971– ) has no image.

I recommend that change the order of your choices so that the first five choices have images.

My immediate thought was The Bad News Bears and you've got it so good job. OMG how I loved that movie as a kid.

I don't think Nouvelle is news but new. ElMo could verify.

The news networks have gone crazy

? ?

Network  (1976)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/reference
Faye Dunaway   ...  Diana Christensen
William Holden   ...  Max Schumacher
Peter Finch   ...  Howard Beale
Robert Duvall   ...  Frank Hackett

A fourth network is struggling for ratings

A television network cynically exploits a deranged former anchor's ravings
and revelations about the news media for its own profit.

Howard Beale:
I don't have to tell you things are bad
But first get up out of your chairs, open the window,
stick your head out, and yell, and say it:
"I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

The writer Aaron Sorkin had two Television shows set in the news room, but one didn’t have the word “News” in the title.

- “The Newsroom” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1870479/...

- “Sports Night”

I already have the Newsroom. I remember  Sports **** Night. Was hoping my memory was faulty and there was a news in the middle. Love all things Sorkin. West Wing. Etc. Speaking of West Wing. I think the show had life in it. Problem was in the last season they had the Election season on the Show and the national real election was happening at the same time. Bush won. Sorkin Could have written Alan Alda's character as winning instead of Smit's. What a show it would have been watching the left Write for the right, and have it come off as good as when the democrat Sheen was on the show. But nooo, the fans be damned. It could have been more entertaining than the first 8 seasons.

I agree. But it would have meant creating a whole new cast of characters for that President and basically changing the whole political direction of the show.

“ Until the Midterms are over lets all just watch the News in TV Shows and Movies. ” Or .. simply play “EYEWITNESS Newsreel Challenge”. If you don’t know what that means, back in the days of VHS video tapes, a game company published one hell of a good game where, after watching a short section of a vintage newsreel film, the players (up to three players) or teams ask two questions each on anything heard or seen in that section of video they had just watched. The questions can be on anything just so long as the answer is contained within the video. The only other condition to the questions asked is that they have to be one specific thing in the video. You couldn’t ask a question like “What were the names Wright Brothers?” because that would have person come up with two different names in order to answer the question, “Wilbur and Orville.” But you could ask a question like “What was the fast name of the brothers who flew the first airplane?” You get a point for each player, or team you stumped and get a point for each question you answer correctly. The first player or team to get twenty five points wins the game. Too bad that the IMDB doesn’t have this game listed as a film since it clearly uses a feature length video of newsreel clips to play the game.

In looking to see if the IMDb did list ENC as film, I came across this title from India, News (1989).

Too bad you didn’t have the description worded differently to include films about newspapers but didn’t have the word “News” in it. Then I would have suggested these several fine films and television shows like:

- “Call Northside 777” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040202/...

- any filmed version of “The Front Page” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021890/... including “His Girl Friday” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032599/...

- “All the President's Men” (1976) (do not confused this one with the other film with the same name but different story) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074119/...

- “The Paper” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110771/...

- “The Post” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6294822/...

- “Lou Grant “ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075528/... Extremely highly recommended. It is hard to believe that this ground breaking serious drama set in a city newsroom of a newspaper, one of the best shows ever done, IMHO, came as a spin-off of the comedy show that was set in a TV newsroom, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065314/... ! They are so radically different.

- “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”

- “Deadline - U.S.A.” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044533/...
