A day ago I posted a complaint about "Game of Thrones" IMDB board:
For the past six months, the IMDB board of "Game of Thrones" is flooded by trolls. The messages are not necessarily spam or foul language, but of topics that have no relevance to the show, like "what is your favorite color?". I first tried to put the posters in the ignore list, but it did not help at all - there are too many of them. Reporting those messages is not effective for the same reason. Please do something about this: shut the board for a while, increase the moderation or whatever you see fit - something must be done.
The answer I received is totally dissatisfactory:
When you see threads on this Message Board that have nothing to do with "Game Of Thrones", please use the Report Abuse feature to bring it to the attention of our moderators (move your mouse to the Flag link found under the message heading and click on 'Report Post' and follow the instructions on your screen) and our staff will review it and take appropriate action.
I am very disappointed. The answer I received is not a solution - it ignores the problem and places the responsibility on some else. Not only the person who answered me ignored what I wrote very specifically - that reporting the posts is not effective since there are so many of them - but also locked the thread. As a result, regardless of the topic, I cannot explain why the answer does not solve the probelm, and others who may feel the same cannot post what they think of the topic.
Therefore I have no choice but to post it here again, in request of better and more serious treatment of the problem.
The answer I received is relevant when it comes to sporadic posts, but it is not the case. The trolling is not done sporadically - it floods the board. With all due respect, I do not think it is my job or any of those who visit the board to sit every day for hours and report the countless posts. Morever, from my experience it takes a couple of days for the moderators to inspect the breaching post and decide whether to erase it - by then hundreds other mor recent posts flood the board, so there is no point of reporting these. In my opinion, this situation needs increasing of the moderation. The frequent visitors of the board cannot, and I believe it is not their responsibility, to fix the problem.
If you wish to see feedback of the topic, it is here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/board/flat/235706736?p=1
What the user LucasAnon wrote (the second post he posted on the above thread) reflects what I think of the answer, except that I am not amused. It is your job to solve problems, not dismiss them so offhandedly.
I request that you, the person who reads this message and is supposed to answer it, not to dismiss my post with explanation how to report abusive messages, but to see for yourself what is going on in the "Game of Thrones" IMDB board. I also request to leave this thread open for further posting, in case I or anyone else who feels the same wishes to comment.
