I was checking the genres page but it doesn't say anything about genres for video games.
I guess we can all agree titles like Assassin's Creed, Doom, Mortal Kombat etc. need the Action genre.
But games like Zelda, Super Mario and Resident Evil have the genre too.
Seems like almost every game has the Action genre because they all get approved anyway:

How do we define genres for video games?
Can Fantasy titles also have Sci-fi attached?

Hi MJ, video game genres fall under the same guidelines outlined on our genre help page guide. Sci-Fi and Fantasy are very different genres, so I recommend carefully reviewing on a case by case basis before submitting.

Ok but video games are not films, so you can't just apply those the same way.
Like I said almost every video game has action in it, and almost every single player games go from start to the end so they're basically all Adventure.
and why do almost all Mario games have the Family genre, I would assume those are all incorrect.
What kid is going to play Mario Kart or Mario Golf with his parents?
Maybe we can discuss this?

Often features children or relates to them in the context of home and family. Note: Usually, but not always, complementary to Animation. Objective." (emphasis added).

Mario games are universally accepted viewing and playing for a younger audience and they're aimed specifically for the entertainment of children. So, why wouldn't they have the genre Family attached to them?

Because most people who play Mario games are above the age of 18.
And the word "Family" would imply it's aimed for the entire family. Just because the site doesn't have the genre "Children", doesn't mean those titles need the Family genre by lack of more accurate genres.
The same thing goes for Action and Adventure, a lot of games are Survival Horrors, or Platformers, but because IMDb's genre options are meant for films, most people just add as much alternative genres as they can. A game like Tetris can't really have an IMDb genre but people just add Action so that at least it has one.
Maybe it's time IMDb starts adding genres for video games too, they decided to add video games to their site, maybe now it's time to take that seriously.

Agree. At least we can add keywords like Third Person Shooter and Role Playing Game, but these are genres (or sub-genres), and not keywords.
