I left a couple of critical posts about an actor's performance on movie and now i have been deluged with hateful DMs and somehow I was tracked anothers lifestyle&entertainment website where I am taunted and harassed. Homophobic and threatening in nature. I insist that community moderator 'bluesmanSF' not respond to this inquiry as I left a similar complaint a couple of months ago and the answer i got was basicialy i got what i deserved for insulting fans. Not acceptable response. My question is what can IMDB do to trace these DMs and posts and disapline the real offenders. My posts all over IMDG get red-flaged for no reason and I have had threads outright deleted. I am getting bullied off the site by zealot obsessed fans.

FYI, "bluesmanSF" is not a "community moderator."

I am not sure what you are champion of other than being consistently unhelpful if not outright patronizing. In fact you are much like the Trolls we are all here registering complaints about. Is that why you camp out on this community board?

Re: "quantity/quality"
You said I am unhelpful. Just pointing out that thousands of people disagree with you. I had a feeling you'd completely misunderstand...

I spent some time peer reviewing some of yours and 'Christian and Proud' interaction on the board and my conclusion is that neither one of you have ANY clue of how IMDB systems work: you both spend a great deal blustering and deflecting by insulting and insinuating. I think you forget that you volunteered this position to assist and guide people but I find that most of your crew cites 'rules and regulations' without proving links to said rules. You are just like the fanatics on the movie boards that attempt to dictate and curate content based on their own twisted pathology. In short you make it up as your mood takes you. I don't see allot of traffic on this site: I think the general public goes elsewhere for valid assistance.

Attention to anyone who came across this post hoping for guidance and insight on dealing with agreesive stalking in IMDB: Do not relay on this community board to provide you the any meaningful insight on howIMDB/ Amazon addresses cyber attacks and data privacy as they simply don't have any true knowledge or experience on the application /database infrastructre: I recommend you open a case with amazon.com as a start selecting Security & Privacy to request dialogue with a REAL technologist who can advise you how to keep safe and secure while on IMDB. Hitting ignore DOES not prevent stalkers from sending you DMs (emotional harrassment) nor does it give you peace of mind that they will resort to other means to hack your IMDB account for personal information. IMDB will address aggressiveness by IP blocking: and there's means to find these creeps if they bounch proxy servers-you just have to be equally persistent in finding an actual technologist/decision maker to help you. Repeat: you will NOT get that support on this site.

IMDb did, in the past, block IPs but I have not heard of or seen it in a very, very long time. In fact, it would be counter-productive since there is now a much larger reliance on dynamic IP addresses. IMDb has, ever since I've participated in it's message boards, promoted the use of "Report and Ignore" to the exclusion of almost everything else.
It has long been my understanding that placing someone on Ignore WILL prevent them from sending you Private Messages.
The T&C make it quite clear that individual users are responsible for the information they put on the site but that they will cooperate with government officials (police or other agencies) to assist with investigations . (see: http://www.imdb.com/help/show_article... )
IMDb has long held their position that they will respond only to message board complaints via their "Report Abuse" system. We are aware that there is in place an automated system of some sort, though the IMDb staff has never delineated how and when it is implemented. (See: http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?bo... )
We have been advised in the past by IMDb staff that there is no such thing as "Board Moderators" as might be experienced on other sites with boards. They have also been clear that they focus on the "Core" functions of the site, which can be defined as the database functions. They have posted the "Message Board FAQ" (see: http://www.imdb.com/help/search?domai...) and provided the Get Satisfaction Forum for use of its members.
On the Contact Us page, at the very bottom, they say "Though we read each and every message and do our best to reply to everyone, please understand that, due to the extremely high number of queries we receive on a daily basis, we can't guarantee a personal response in every case, especially for questions that have been already answered in our documentation or by the community."
You can hope that, perhaps, IMDb Staff has read, or will read, your questions and determine that none of their documentation addresses your concerns or that no community member has provided you with an accurate or reasonable reply. In that case, they will respond.

Listen, I am no longer taking 'advice' from the chucknuckles in the peanut gallery. Frankly I could't get through the nonsense once i got to the cooperating with government or whatever the hell you were saying. Take the tinfoil hat off. This isn't a matter that involves the NSA. I opened my inquiry with the expectation that the moderators are actually TRAINED and KNOWLEDGEABLE about how to address the source of cyberstalking and personal privacy breaches. The more I read these ridiculous responses the more angry I get. the immates do run the asylum.
