IMDB should allow for half stars when rating.
Sometimes I really want to rate a movie a 7.5 or 8.5!

Barbara if you had looked first before posting a thing (recommended in the future please), yo would have noticed this is an old topic that has been brought up dozes of times (see the link above by ACT_1) from 4 years ago,

covering back at least as long as get satisfaction has been used. It goes back further on the old message boards. So in essence IMDb has looked and listened and done nothing to institute this for at least 15 or more years.

Thanks for the thoughts.

You will no doubt get some that will agree with you. But do not get your hopes up. IMDb officially has not commented on this that I'm aware of in the last 2 1/2 years.
Cheers

And some that disagree with you.  There are already millions to gazillions of votes on IMDb based on the 10-point scale.  And 10 different ratings is already enough room for distinction for me.  I always wonder when I see a reviewer rating movies on something as grand as a 100-point scale, why bother--and couldn't that energy be spent on less arbitrarily-precise reviewing?

One reason that show worked.  A simple up-down vote allowed more time to argue over actual merits of films.
