Hi!
I think you should introduce "half stars" as well...e.g. if we want to give a movie 7.5 stars, we should be able to do so.
Sometimes, i feel that if a movie is worth half a star more or half a star less, than i could give her... full star isn't justified, nor half a star less.

Although I would also like to be able have a finer rating scale, I suspect that IMDB will probably never implement such a change. IMDb's infrastructure is built on the ten point scale. Making the change you suggest would likely require a significant effort with only a marginal benefit.

That would be wonderful IMDb' using half star rating system. Some of the movie web sites are using half star rating. You could check from here: http://www.moviebreak.de/
Here's the sample of half star how it should be. I hope you consider this idea again.

It would require millions of people to re-vote or make many, if not most, votes inaccurate. It also requires trying to recall what 8.5 means, in relation to 8 or 9, and it becomes difficult to vote accurately (as if all of us using our own version isn't bad enough).
Ten is plenty options. Twenty, too many...100 as in Tupac's version is ridiculous.
It would be a huge mistake.

The 1 to 10 rating scale on IMDb is well established. As bluesmanSF pointed out, it would require millions of people to re-vote on thousands of titles.
Based upon many discussions on rating films, many people use divergent criteria for rating a film. Some simply give a film a thumbs up of 10 and a thumbs down of 1. Others would like to be able rate films using a 1000 point scale. The 1 to 10 rating scale is a good compromise to these divergent methods for rating films.
