It seems that that many reviews now have the same comments that you would find on the message boards. Like ********* him/her so much! Great characters! Want season a 2 or whatever. By taking away the boards, I think this has made the reviews a place that you can't hardly find a review in! I believe a wholesale change needs to be ironed out to cure this. How many minimum words do you think a review should have? And do you think a minimum paragraph requirement is necessary? And how many? Also a no repeat over and over filter of some type, so you could not be able to "Skirt" the word and paragraph parameters?

for reviews is 50 characters, however reviews of 200 to 500 characters
are typically the most valuable to our users.

You can always sort the reviews by "Prolific Reviewer" (and on the iOS app at least, this sort order is "sticky" and is preserved across all titles until you change it).
Equally, you are welcome to create a new GetSatisfaction "Idea" thread on adding a new sort order of "Review Length" and then others can comment / vote upon it.

I do not understand why an "idea" would be needed to implement such a change (increase the minimum number of characters for a review), when everybody is crying over the... futility of thousands of... useless reviews. IMDb credibility is partially, but meaningfully, at stake here.

Cliff, yes, I will visit it and support it, though I do feel disrespected by IMDb about this whole ordeal. But it's their site and they can do with it what they like.

I agree. "Reviews" under a paragraph in length are useless and clutter up a section that has already become more difficult to search through. Some random person's statement that they liked/hated a movie or found it boring/exciting or whatever is of no interest unless they go into a bit of detail as to why, which is what a review is at its most basic level.

Cliff, I respect you taking the time to actually create this new thread. It's always nice to see people trying to fix what other people have broken.
