There's been a fair amount of things with Demon Possession going around over the years in media (an evil being taking control over another), which I'm positive does reference The Exorcist, especially as the word possessed is used. I have tried posting movie connections about such, and the ones that went up successfully were these:

Other: Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)
Type: referenced in
Reason: Another movie where a girl gets possessed demonly.

Other: Gravity Falls (2012) {Summerween (#1.12)}
Type: referenced in
Reason: The boy pair show Grunkle Stan a video of a kitten about to sleep but unexpectedly changes into a demon screaming, of which resembles Regans demon face.

Those that did not go up successfully that I am trying to put up are these ones: Other: Gravity Falls (2012) {The Inconveniencing (#1.5)}
Type: referenced in
Reason: Mabel gets demon possessed by a Ghost for the episodes majority.

Other: Jessie (2011) {Ghost Bummers (#3.1)}
Type: referenced in
Reason: Zorag and his ghosts have the power to take control over mortals through Demon Possession.

Other: Austin & Ally (2011) {Horror Stories & Halloween Scares (#3.20)}

Other: Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior (2006) (TV)
Type: referenced in
Reason: Yan-Lo has the power to take control one person after another through Demon Possession.

I did not want to have to bring this up on IMDB's Get Satisfaction these, but after 4-5 months of failing to get them up, I thought it might now be time. You can see for yourself in regards to what I'm talking about by looking at the Movie Connections page, some stuff posted of in the past are left without any mentioning, would've been easier to post them that way: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070047/movieconnections/?tabmc&ref_tt_trv_cnn

Once again I apologise for how I've formatted this, since I can't seem to leave paragraphs on any post I make for some reason.

Hi, CuriousUserX90. Do these scenes of demonic possession play out in a way that resembles anything unique to The Exorcist like no supernatural-themed movie before The Exorcist? They might belong to the connection type "spoofed in" instead of "referenced in". The categorization "referenced in" is for cases as follows:
  • A character in one movie mentions one of the following:
    • The title of another movie;
    • The name of a character, setting, object or element from another movie.
  • A character in one movie recites a line specific to another movie.
  • A movie contains, for/of another movie, a poster, promotional material, box art or derivative merchandise (like a comic books, a costume or a toy).
Also, what is the 18-digit reference number of the submission in question?

I don't think many of these qualify as references. IMDb's guidelines say:

"Please note that we only accept references and spoofs if it is obvious that the filmmakers clearly had the other title in mind when writing, directing, photographing or scoring a specific scene. This should be reflected in the given reason."

and

"Similarities in the plot are not considered movie links. i.e. simply because two movies feature a government official who goes rogue to seek revenge and drives a blue Chevy does not mean that one movie references the other. Please consider submitting a plot keyword instead."
