Here We Go Again: The “Badly Formatted” Reason.

I would like to address my complaints to the diligent editors of IMDb, for the recent rejection of an entire batch of photos for the hard-to-find title:

Given the rarity of this late-1980s movie, I decided to update this title and to upload 36 images (7 posters/DVD covers and 29 still frames) of exactly the same quality and characteristics—1019×472 pixels.

However, apart from the posters, nearly all were declined.

Reason Badly Formatted. Related item has been declined.

Your contribution has been declined. Your data referred to another item which has been declined or deleted, and this means that your data will not appear on the site. If you also submitted the original item and believe that it still warrants inclusion, please review the submission guide and resubmit.”

Here’s one out of three still frames that were accepted:

I understand that the image quality is far from perfect; nevertheless, IMDb always takes into consideration the age and the rarity of the movie before making a decision. For example, I tirelessly upload photos for the silent films of Georges Méliès, without any problem.

Since all dedicated contributors want, irrefutably, to improve their services, can you please explain why submissions such as this #180920-074822-961102 and this #180920-074809-791102 (to name a few) were rejected?

Thank you for your time considering my request.

Hi Nick -

I reviewed the two submissions you referenced and can confirm that the image displayed was stretched due to the aspect ratio, our editors consider them to be poor quality which is why it was rejected as 'bad formatting'.

For additional information on our acceptance guidelines and quality preferences please see the following guide:

I hope this helps clarify!

Hi, Michelle,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will not try to defend my submissions; however, nothing was altered--this is the movie's original aspect ratio.

With this in mind, the editors' decision to reject an honest contribution to a hard-to-find title is a bit perplexing.

Not all titles get a Bluray release, especially movies like the humble, Casablanca Express (1989).

Once again, thank you for your time.
